What to expect as a beginner:

There are no expectations placed on a beginner in the classes. It will take time for you to learn the rules and etiquette
of the Dojo (training hall) as well as the techniques practised. Give yourself time and it will soon become second nature.
If you are to become a member, you will receive documentation with information regarding the rules and history of the art.

As a beginner the training is based on the Okinawan Samurai art of Ryukyu Kempo. You will learn the basic techniques,
stances and Kata (patterns) that make up the art. In teaching this art, the classes are designed to improve your fitness,
co-ordination, self-discipline and confidence.

Our classes will improve your concentration, as well as teaching you to strive for short, medium and long-term goals.
This is done through our grading system with coloured belts from white to black.

Proper use of skills:

We have strict rules about applying the art outside of Dojo training, this is taught from the start through the ‘Dojo Kun’
(a set of guidelines written by past Masters). Ryukyu Kempo is a traditional art of ‘life protection.’ The philosophies of
Karate are learnt as well as the physical techniques.

Getting started:

New beginners are starting every month and progress at their own speed. Everyone needs their own time to learn the
techniques and principles of Ryukyu Kempo and no one is expected to pick up everything on the first night.
