Renshi Adam Lang

Founder, Ko Bu Kan, Ryukyu Karate School.

5th Dan Black Belt, Ryukyu Kempo.

Renshi Lang began training in Martial Arts in early 1988 at the local Kempo Karate school.

From 1993 – 2006  Renshi Lang was a member of the Ryukyu Kempo NZ Association, receiving his first level of Black Belt in December 1993.

2006 – Present,  Renshi Lang has been training with the United Ryukyu Kempo Alliance learning the art of Ryukyu Kempo as taught by Taika Oyata, a 10th Dan master from the Ryukyu Islands.



Shihan Alan Campbell

4th Dan Black Belt, Ryukyu Kempo.

Shihan Campbell began training in Kyokushinkai Karate in 1970 and as a career Police officer, had trained on and off over the years.

In early 1992, Shihan Campbell began training in Ryukyu Kempo and joined our school in 1998 with his Dojo.

Shihan Campbell has continued to train and instruct in Ryukyu Kempo and is a very experienced member of the Instructor’s team.



Shihan Kenneth Bartlett

4th Dan Black Belt, Ryukyu Kempo.

Shihan Bartlett began training in Ryukyu Kempo in 1994 and is one of the founding students of the Ko Bu Kan, Ryukyu Karate School.

Shihan Bartlett is also one of the original four students to receive a Ryukyu Kempo Black Belt in New Zealand training from White Belt.

Shihan Bartlett has been instructing in the school since 1998 and has a wealth of knowledge in the Martial Arts to share with the students. His dedication to the school and the art is second to none.



Sensei Andrew Empson

3rd Dan Black Belt, Ryukyu Kempo.

Sensei Empson joined the school in mid 1998 and earned his first level Black Belt in December 2004.

Sensei Empson has been instructing at the school since receiving his Black Belt and is a very accomplished Martial Artist.



Sensei John Dustin

2nd Dan Black Belt, Ryukyu Kempo.

Sensei Dustin is the ‘2IC’ for Shihan Campbell’s Dojo in Papakowhai and has been training in Ryukyu Kempo since 1994.

Over the years Shihan Dustin has amassed a great deal of experience the art to impart to the students.



Sensei Phillip Bartlett

2nd Dan Black Belt, Ryukyu Kempo.

Sensei Phillip Bartlett began training at the school in 1994 as a 5 year old child, eventually receiving his first level Black Belt in early 2008.

The youngest of three brothers who have all received their Black Belts at our school (along with their father), Sensei Bartlett has grown up with Martial Arts in the blood. He is a success story of the school having developed into a very competent Black Belt from small beginnings.



Sensei Terumi Isogai

2nd Dan Black Belt, Ryukyu Kempo.

Sensei Isogai is our only current female Instructor and began training at the school in 2002, receiving her first level Black Belt in 2008. Since then, Sensei Isogai has been teaching at our Dojo’s and has a high proficiency in technical accuracy.
